Safer Streets for Chalvey’s young people
Following growing concern over attitudes, behaviours and beliefs about sexual harassment and gender, and backed by the Home Office, the Thames Valley Office for the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) has embarked on an ambitious project to comprehensively tackle the issues now and for the future.
The Choices Programme
When Lime was asked to explain why many young people get caught up in problematic behaviour, this sparked a deep exploration into what it takes to understand and make critical decisions and ultimately led to the creation of the Choices Programme.
CRC Project
Jeval is 10-years-old. He lives on a second floor maisonette with his mum in a part of Birmingham characterised by multiple deprivation, poverty and crime. Jeval’s teacher described him as a boy who, upon starting year 6, “could have gone either way”.
Our Latest Projects
Critical thinking. Problem-solving. Decision making. These are essential skills. They are crucial to maintaining good mental health and emotional wellbeing. They enable people to navigate the myriad of life’s complex challenges, and so these three domains of exploration guide our work.
Working across these frames gives focus to our projects, enabling us to develop contextual insight and learning about how they impact people’s lives.
We have a track record of creating projects, campaigns and interventions that change lives. We’ve persuaded 14-year-olds in Hastings to drink less alcohol, teenagers in Birmingham to reject violence, and young people in London to resist the lure of gangs. We’ve worked to reduce the number of casualties in road accidents and cut incidents of young people deliberately starting fires. All these projects have one thing in common – to empower people to choose their own better future.

Project One|80 is an approach to help young people understand behaviours that might lead them into trouble, and to help them get better at making smart choices. It has been developed for Police Officers working in Youth Justice settings, but might be valuable to other youth justice practitioners.
