New Film Shot in Sandwell

USG (Urban Street Gang) is a new film in our My Life My Choice Programme which focuses on Naz, a teenager whose life is sent spiralling following his slow, unintentional slide into gang culture that leaves him a set of choices with devastating implications.

The accompanying learning activities enable young people to explore the issues associated with street gang culture, including violence and weapon-carrying but also reflect on the underlying behaviours, choices, decisions and relationships and the impact of these on their family, friends and community.

Our research shows that safety and fear are major concerns for young people and this resource aims to facilitate open discussion while simultaneously addressing fear. By raising awareness in this way young people will be encouraged to talk about the complex mix of social, economic, psychological and cultural factors, which all impact upon their lives.

We’ve had tremendous support across all the local areas we have filmed in so far including Sandwell, Wolverhampton and Staffordshire.

The USG programme is available for roll out across the West Midlands.
